Recent cutbacks in education funding make it difficult for schools to keep up with the demand for quality educational materials. Newspapers serve as an exceptional supplement to textbooks. Through our Californian in Education, program students at local schools receive The Bakersfield Californian newspaper at no cost to them.
We are committed to educating local students and joining the fight against illiteracy. By reading newspapers, students learn to read critically and reflectively. They develop a concern for public issues and become your productive workforce of tomorrow.
Every dollar of your tax-deductible donation to The Californian in Education Foundation, a 501 (c) (3), nonprofit organization, will be used to fund newspapers for local schools.
There are a number of ways we can help you be recognized in the community for supporting our educational programs. Among them are thank you ads in the newspaper, your company logo and marketing or program information on our teacher guides and other educational supplements, and broadcast e-mails or text messages to local schools on programs that you provide.
We have customized sponsorship packages that can be tailored to your industry. Here are a few ways you can support literacy through the CIE program:
v $500 donation – Provides at least 5 classrooms with newspapers for one year. In return, your business name and logo will be published in a monthly thank you ad, on the CIE website, a framed certificate and 1/8 page recognition ad.
v $2,500 donation – Provides at least 10 classrooms with newspapers for one year. In return, your business name and logo will be published in a monthly thank you ad, on the CIE website, a framed certificate and a 1/2 page recognition ad.
v $5,000+ donation – Provides at least 10 classrooms with newspapers for one year. In return, your business name and logo will be published in a monthly thank you ad, on the CIE website, a framed certificate and a 2 - 1/2 page recognition ads.
The more sponsorship funding there is, the more children are helped. Even modest support goes a long way in promoting literacy. I look forward to meeting with you and your marketing representative to discuss how we can develop a win-win partnership to benefit both of our companies and local schools, teachers and students.
Be a child’s hero. Help support literacy in Kern County.
